The Nice Young Men

Since coming in Edinburgh and spending much of my time with a 2 year old, I have discovered that this city is FULL of nice young men who will stop and smile and wave and generally pass the time of day with an awestruck small boy. 

We have chatted with scaffolders, bin men, men with vans and trucks and cranes. There was the young man in a cherrypicker cleaning the rhones who saw us watching and went up to the full stretch of his machine and down again TWICE. There was the very tattooed young man who let Arran press the button that made the flat bit on the back of his delivery truck go up and down. Bus drivers wave at us. Firefighters wave. Posties show him the parcels in the back of their van and one let him try on his bag. 

This is not to say that there aren't nice young women and old men and old women and everything in-between. This is just to say 'Thank you!' to the nice young men who really are. You make our days.
